Sea Holly is an extremely hardy plant. It is particularly vigorous in a hostile environment and survives amongst dunes and pebbles, resistant against the wind, poor soil, salt and sun. It is capable of maintaining its internal hydric potential despite the saline soil, and can survive by the sea without drying out. Also it can not only resist the sun but also needs direct sunlight for at least a few hours a day.
Sea Holly is a thorny blue plant, 30 to 60 cm that is a protected species in Brittany since 1987 and is the emblem of the Coastal Conservation. Yves Rocher turned to a Breton biotechnology company in order to access its amazing properties of resistance without endangering it. Thanks to an innovating process, the company is responsible for obtaining the quintessence of Sea Holly through botanical cellular culture in bioreactors. A technology that preserves the plant and provides Yves Rocher with botanical cells that are rich in beneficial molecules!
The skin is damaged by the sun. To find a solution, the Yves Rocher Laboratories naturally turned to an expert in resisting the sun: the Sea Holly. Thanks to its Breton partner, Yves Rocher developed a concentrate of polyactive botanical cells that is solvent and preservative free, capable of delivering its activity with a low concentration. In vitro studies on this polyactive have revealed five benefits that are specifically aimed at caring for and protecting the skin: it boosts the melanin production, stimulates the skin’s ability to defend itself against damage from the sun, protects against photo-aging, protects (…) the skin’s structure and stimulates cell regeneration. Added to ultra- sensorial textures that are easy to apply, this plant gives all its efficacy to the Solar Perfect Skin care, adapted to the skin’s needs before, during and after exposure to the sun.
