It is not by chance that the Amerindians have been using Witch Hazel for many years. This plant contains numerous molecules in its leaves and bark that are useful to its survival but also in medicine and beauty care. They are rich in astringent tannins and anti-oxidants called flavonoids, that made Witch Hazel recognized for its soothing properties.
Origins of the plant
In the Autumn, bright yellow, pleasant-smelling flowers appear on the Witch Hazel bush that generally grows to 4 meters high. However, its soothing treasures are hidden in its leaves and bark. To enable these treasures to gently develop, the Witch Hazel used by Yves Rocher Laboratories is organically grown in the Landes, in France. For 20 years, our partner has successfully adapted the growing of witch hazel to France. This is an uncommon crop in Europe, being originally from the United States, but it has been mastered and developed with the greatest respect for the plant itself. Our partner uses their know-how to control the harvest using innovative processes, and to optimise plant processing, all in a continuous flow.
