The plant world invented the seed to ensure its reproduction. When the seed is subjected to ideal conditions, germination begins and gives life to a new seedling ensuring the survival of the species. However in order for the new plant to grow, the seed requires energy reserves that are either protein, carbohydrate or lipid. This feeds the plant until it becomes autonomous and can ensure its own survival through photosynthesis. Protected at the heart of the oleaginous seed, plant oils make up most of these lipid reserves and are a real source of life.
To ensure a regular and high quality supply of Jojoba oil whatever the season or climatic conditions, the Yves Rocher Laboratories use Jojoba cultures from three countries: Argentina, Peru and Israel. Jojoba is a dioecious tree: trees only have male flowers and others only female ones. Due to this, plantations are managed intelligently i.e. with 5% of male trees for 95% of female trees and the former are distributed so that the wind alone, ensures the pollination of the entire plantation! Jojoba seeds are harvested at maturity using mechanised methods. They contain nearly 50% liquid wax, commonly known as “jojoba oil”.
Thanks to its sebaceous glands, the skin produces sebum that forms part of the hydrolipidic layer, the first barrier against external aggressions. Sometimes however, this naturally secreted lipidic layer is not enough to prevent the skin from becoming dry. This is why the Yves Rocher Laboratories have turned to Jojoba oil. It is extracted from Jojoba seeds using cold pressing without solvents and thus preserves all its integrity. It has high quantities of components similar to sebum and therefore has protective and anti-dehydrating properties that help to create a non-oily layer preserving the natural moisturization (…) of the skin from the effects of cold and drought. Jojoba oil has numerous other qualities; softens (it is easily absorbed by the skin and has a regenerating effect); balances and soothes. It can be found in our Repairing Shampoo and many of the Culture Bio range products. There are many solutions to take care of and protect your skin and hair.
