Sigesbeckia really deserves its creole nickname of « quick-healer ». The gum-resin that it contains is especially rich in terpenes and molecules from the polyphenol family, which gives it healing and soothing properties. This gum resin, the plant’s life fluid, enables it to distribute molecules that it needs in environments where it is subjected to external stress. Sigesbeckia has proven that it is the perfect remedy for fragile skin.
Sigesbeckia orientalis grows on land that is rich in hummus on the large island of Madagascar. The amount of actives in its leaves is very high between the months of April and June. They are mainly picked during this period in the region of Moramanga, to the East of the capital Antananarivo, by Yves Rocher’s Malagasy partner. In respect of Yves Rocher’s plant charter, the picking and drying is carried out sustainably according to perfectly controlled standards. They are defoliated by hand, to preserve the plant’s integrity and so it can continue to grow. The leaves are then dried in the sun for 6 days. For a better understanding and protection of the plant, Yves Rocher finance is also financing an ecological survey of Sigesbeckia orientalis, in collaboration with its Malagasy partner at the University of Antananarivo.
The skin is made up of distinct compartments that each have essential roles in its proper functioning. As with plants, the skin is subjected to many external factors such as UV rays, the cold, pollution…These environmental stress factors and their changes, over-stimulate the skin and provoke inflammation. The skin becomes sensitive, reactive and experiences redness, discomfort, irritation and tightness. To resolve these problems, the Yves Rocher Laboratories use Sigesbeckia, recognized for its exceptional repairing power. A 100% natural, botanical and concentrated extract has been developed from its leaves, using N.A.T (Natural Assimilation Technology). Developed by Yves Rocher Laboratories, it helps the skin to assimilate the actives. In vitro tests have proven the soothing, protecting and regulating effects of this extract. Added to the formulas of the Sensitive Végétal range, it affects clinical signs (redness, tightness, hot sensations) and also reduces the skin’s reactivity*, providing solutions to the needs of sensitive skin.
